Plugins and add-ons not working

Markku Niemivirta Dec 03, 2015 11:53AM GMT

I would start using Colwiz, but neither the plugin for Word 2016 (Mac) – in one computer it does not install properly, and in another, it gives a visual basic error message when trying to insert bibliography – nor the add-on for Google Docs works. Any updates on these?

We're working on updating our plugin to support the latest version of office. We hope to bring it out as soon as possible. For your issue with the Google Docs plugin, kindly refresh your browser or reinstall the extension.

We know of this intermittent bug and our team is working on a fix. Thanks.

Thanks for the response. Looking forward to an update.

However, the google docs plugin still doesn't work. The importer works fine, but the extension in google docs does not. Whenever you try to click the colwiz icon on your google docs document, it just turns gray and stops responding. Am I missing something here?

You're welcome!

Are you sure you aren't in a read-only mode in Google Docs when you're viewing the document? That's when the colwiz plugin is disabled. Thanks.

Yes. The plugin appears enabled, but when I click it, it turns gray and stops responding...

Just found the reason for the above problem. The Google Docs plugin works appropriately only when the default language is English. Word plugin still doesn't work. What a pity.

Hi Markku,

Thanks for notifying us. The development team is currently working on providing support for Word 2016 for Mac. We have noted your concern with Google Docs plugin working only when default language is set to English and shall have a fix for it soon.

Hi Markku,

colwiz plugin now supports MS Word 2016 on Windows while support for MS Word 2016 on Mac is coming next week. You may begin by downloading the Desktop application from our downloads section and enabling the Editor Plugin from settings.

The Word plugin for Colwiz has the installation path of the main Colwiz Desktop program hard coded into it, so any Colwiz installation to a non-default path is going to end up with the Word Addin broken.
Just load the Word Addin in Word and edit the appropriate macro to fix the issue.
I'm guessing that the programmer did not think about installation path when writing his macros.
